Days
ago, Maroon 5 released an extremely sexual video for their song
'Animals' in which a shirtless Adam Levine who works as a butcher is
seen stalking his model wife Behati Prinsloo in a creepy manner until he
finally had bloodied sex with her. Now, rape victim groups have come
out to condemn the video on the ground that it encourages rape, stalking
and violence against women. In the vidoe, Adam spends days stalking an
unknown woman (played by his wife) and takes photos of her while she is sleeping
in her house. Well, I guess they are right in a way, sometimes, rape
starts from stalking the victim before the sexual crime is even
committed.
The VP of Communications Katherine Hull Fliflet of The Rape, Abuse, Incest National Network told Mailonline:
"Maroon 5's video for Animals is a dangerous depiction of a stalker's fantasy - and no one should ever confuse the criminal act of stalking with romance."
"The trivialisation of these serious crimes, like stalking, should have no place in the entertainment industry."
Also, the National Sexual Violence Resource Center blasted Adam for treating his wife like a piece of meat, TMZ reports.
The groups also raised eyebrows at lyrics from the song like:
"Baby, I'm preying on you tonight/hunt you down eat you alive" Meanwhile some fans described the video as "art."
