The Owena Waves were beaten for the first time in six games at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, thanks to a second-half strike from Ifeanyi Onuigbo.
Abe, whose team have dropped back into the relegation zone, says there will be a positive reaction in their next match against Nasarawa United.
“We need to bounce back from this defeat and I’m sure we’ll do so when we
return to Akure on Monday, Sunday told Goal.
“It is sad seeing our run of six games unbeaten run end despite giving all it takes.
“[The Heartland] result may have been a setback, but the tie’s not over. In a few days’ time we will face Nasarawa United in Akure and we have no excuse not to win.
“We have moved on we must not forget our goals. Our ambition is to win the league and secure a ticket to next season’s Caf Champions League.”
