The latest news reaching us on our news desk has it that A convicted killer murdered a pensioner in the street by
stabbing him 15 times with a pair of scissors in an unprovoked attack less than
a year after being freed from a life sentence.
Steven Ryan, 43, of Glasgow, stabbed complete stranger
Gordon Murphy, 65, with a scissor blade in a frenzied and unprovoked attack
last December. As the 65 year-old lay dying in the street close to his home,
Ryan calmly walked away and went on to buy drugs he claimed boosted his 'sexual
prowess'.
Ryan denied murdering Mr Murphy and told the court he had
just been a 'good Samaritan' and
had come to Mr Murphy's aid after he had been set upon by mystery attackers.

But the thug was again convicted of murder following a trial
at the High Court in Glasgow.
The court heard Ryan attacked and killed the pensioner just
11 months after being deemed safe enough to be let back on the streets.
The 43-year-old was jailed for life in 1994 for the
high-profile murder of Glasgow procurator fiscal Marshall Stormonth at his home
in the city's west end.
Yesterday Judge John Morris QC ordered Ryan to serve a
minimum of 25 years in prison as he was given a second life sentence.
Describing the 'barbarity' of this crime, he told Ryan: 'It
may be that you will never be released.'
Mr Murphy was brutally attacked around midnight on December 20 last year.
