Nnamdi Kanu
News review that A Federal High Court in Abuja presided over by Justice Ahmed Mohammed yesterday refused to entertain fresh charges brought against the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu by defence counsel, Ifeany Ejiofor on charges of terrorism.
Justice Ahmed Mohammed said the case could not go on since the prosecution was not notified of the fresh charges.
He adjourned the case to a later date to enable parties be served with notice of the arraignment. The court however granted leave to Kanu’s counsel Ejiofor to file an application today for his bail pending the trial.
It would be recalled that a Federal High Court, Abuja presided by Justice Adeniyi Ademola had on December 17 ordered the unconditional release of Kanu after the Department of State Services (DSS) failed to bring criminal charges against him.
Also, another Abuja Magistrate Court presided by Shuaibu Usman had earlier discharged Kanu of alleged criminal conspiracy, managing and belonging to an unlawful society, and criminal intimidation brought before the court on October 19. The offences contravene Sections 97 (b), and 397 of the Penal Code.
