Latest News as Osun Assembly Urges Buhari to Swiftly Review The Economic Strategy

 

Current news as the Osun State House of Assembly has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to review his economic strategy in order to relieve Nigerians of the pains they are undergoing due to economic recession.

The Assembly under the leadership of the Speaker, Mr. Najeem Salaam, said this in an Eid-el-Kabir statement issued by the Chairman, Osun House of Assembly Committee on Information, Mr. Olatubosun Oyintiloye, on Monday.

Information disclose that the lawmakers said the economic challenges currently besetting the nation required all hands to be on deck as the administration marched towards overcoming the economic challenges.

They noted that the economic challenges in the country had taken their toll on

virtually every Nigerian, adding that the efforts to turn things around should inspire hope and courage in the people.

The statement read, “It is public knowledge that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has designed an economic strategy that would eventually make Nigeria better than what it was.”

The legislature called on the “Federal Government to meticulously monitor and review its economic strategy in such a way that it would quickly address the pains that Nigerians are going through,” adding that  “such a strategy would bring succor to the lives of the citizenry.”

The House added that, “It is understandable that Nigerians are going through very hard times, owing to the poor economic situation and these have been causing a lot of pains.

“These pains cannot be unconnected with the depreciation in the value of the naira, the drop in oil prices, the scarcity of money in circulation and the corruption that had affected all the fabrics of our economy which the present government is now struggling to fight.

“On the other hand, it is understandable that the government led by President Buhari is working hard to turn things around.

“Therefore, while the citizenry should have more patience, tolerance, endurance, patriotic and greater willingness to make personal sacrifices for the good of all, the government must also strive towards rapidly overcoming economic and developmental challenges in the nation.”

The lawmakers commended Nigerians, especially, the people of Osun State for their perseverance and patience in the face of economic crunch even as they called for more patience and sacrifice on the part of all Nigerians.

The legislature called on the masses to exhibit the highest ideals of kindness, generosity and love, especially to the underprivileged as they celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir.

It commended the war against Boko Haram insurgents, saying the war had given Nigerians confidence in the ability of the Federal Government to tackle insecurity.
