Current news reaching us as the Nigerian Police Zonal Intervention Squad (ZIS), Onikan, Lagos, have arrested
two suspected cultists for alleged murder of over 20 persons.
It is gathered that Sheriff Afeeri and Wasiu Owoseeni were arrested at Agosi in Ifo, Ogun State, with dangerous weapons including an axe.
Report has it that the duo confessed to be members of the Black Axe (Aiye), confraternity and participated in the various fight against Eiye cult group in Otta and Ifo.
According to the zonal spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi, the suspects were apprehended while planning a meeting.
He said they confessed to have killed several people, including one Niyi alias Neyo, who was the Black Axe leader in Ifo.
Niyi was killed on Western City Street in Ifo last March by his members who wanted to overthrow him.
Adejobi said the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone II, Abdulmajid Ali, has directed that proper investigation be carried out so as to arrest other members of the group.
He said: “The AIG has vowed to get the zone rid of cultists and hoodlums, who have been terrorising innocent people in Lagos and Ogun States.
“Those arrested and others at large will be treated as murderers in as much as their actions have always been tailored to one killing or the other,” he said.
