Report reaching us reveal that A justice of the supreme court, Sylvester Ngwuta, who is one of
the judges arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) on October
8, is currently at the federal high court, Abuja, over charges of money
laundering levelled against him by the federal government.
It is gathered according to news reporters, the DSS claimed that it recovered huge
deposits of foreign currencies from him, and the federal government
through the office of the attorney-general, subsequently filed a
14-count charge of money laundering against the judge.
Now in the charge, Ngwuta was alleged to have possessed two diplomatic
passports and multiple international passports, contrary to section 10
(1) (c) of the Immigration Act. He was yet to step into the dock as of
the time of filing this report.
Information has it that the supreme court judge, had maintained innocence, and accused the
minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, of being behind his
travails.
He alleged that Amaechi appealed to him to influence the ruling of
the last governorship election in Rivers state in favour of the All
Progressives Congress (APC).
