Elijah Oyebode and Yusuf Ajibade were arrested for allegedly murdering an undergraduate university student
Report has it that two heartless men - Mr. Elijah Oyebode and Yusuf Ajibade - have
been remanded in prison by an Osun State Magistrate’s Court sitting in
Osogbo for allegedly killing a 400-level student of the Osun State
University, Miss Rofiat Adebisi.
According to report the two appeared before the court on Tuesday and were charged with
conspiracy to commit murder and unlawfully receiving an iPhone 5
belonging to the deceased.
According to the police prosecutor, Mr. Mireti Wilson, told the
court that the accused and other suspects currently at large committed
the offence on December 23, 2016, at Egbeda in Iragbiji, Osun State.
The prosecutor said Oyebode, aged 22, and his accomplices killed
the female student, while Ajibade received the mobile phone of the
deceased valued at N100,000 from the alleged killers.
The charges read, “That you, Elijah Oyebode, and Yusuf Ajibade,
and others now at large, on December 23, 2016, in the Egbeda-Iragbiji
area, in the Iragbiji Magisterial District, did conspire among
yourselves to commit felony to wit: murder, thereby committing an
offence contrary to and punishable under Section 324 of the Criminal
Code, Cap 34, Vol. II, Law of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.
“That you, Elijah Oyebode, and others now at large, on the same
date, time and place, in the aforementioned magisterial district, did
kill one Rofiat Damilola Adebisi, a student of the Osun State
University, thereby committing an offence contrary to and punishable
under Section 319(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. II, Law of Osun
State of Nigeria, 2002.
“That you, Yusuf Ajibade, did unlawfully receive one Apple
iPhone 5, valued at N100,000, from one Elijah Oyebode, knowing same to
have been stolen, thereby committing an offence contrary to and
punishable under Section 427 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. II, Law
of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.”
Oyebode was represented in the court by his counsel, Mrs. P.O. Ofoyeju, while Mrs. Bola Adeyinka represented Ajibade.
However, the pleas of the accused were not taken.
The presiding magistrate, Mr. Olusola Aluko, ordered that the
accused be remanded in the Ilesha Prison, while the Investigating Police
Officer in the case should duplicate the case file and send same to the
Department of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
He also ruled that the case should be transferred to Court 4 and adjourned till March 31, 2017, for mention.
