News as Aminu Kano’s wife, dies

Fresh current news as the wife of the late Malam Aminu Kano, Shatu, is dead.

It is reported that the matriarch of the Aminu Kano family died at 89, at her residence in Goron Dutse, Kano State, yesterday.

Her death comes 34 years after her husband’s, who died in April 1983. She was
buried yesterday according to Islamic rites.


Elder statesman, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, described her death as a great loss to disciples of the late Aminu Kano.

“The death of the matriarch is a great loss to the people of Kano and Nigerians. The deceased was a dependable and honest wife, who dedicated her time and resources to her husband’s struggle for the liberation of the Talakawas (common man).

“She was a defender of the rights of girl-child and a strong believer in upholding of human rights. May Allah bless her soul till eternity,” he said.
