It is reported that the club was celebrating its hard-fought goalless draw against Adamawa United on Saturday when the news was received.
Our correspondent learnt that the team was on the bus after the game when Mayaki’s death filtered in, cutting short the mood of
celebration.
He’s survived by wife, children, and grandchildren including Kogi United captain, Ismail.
Alhaji has since been buried according to Islamic rights and injunction.
In a statement signed by the club’s Team Manager, Ameh Henry, it described Alhaji Mayaki as a sports loving man who encouraged his children to take an active part in sports with education.
It prayed God to grant him eternal rest and to give the family the fortitude to bear his demise.
