Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger will
not face any disciplinary action from the English FA for an altercation
with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho during Sunday’s Premier League clash
between both clubs.
Wenger had gone over the boundary of
his technical area and shoved the Portuguese tactician following a
tackle on Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez by Gary Cahill early in the
early stages of the London derby at Stamford Bridge.
Both managers had to be separated by
the fourth official as tempers threatened to boil over before referee
Martin Atkinson came over to the touchline to speak with both managers, a
move which is believed to have played a major part in the FA deciding
against taking further action on Wenger.
After the match, Wenger stated
‘nothing had happened’ between both managers and he was only trying to
get closer to his tackled player. Mourinho on his part said he would
hold no grudges over the incident.
Arsenal went on to lose the match
2-0, bringing an end to the Gunners unbeaten start to the league while
also falling nine points behind league leaders Chelsea that now is the
only side unbeaten in the league.
