Fresh Report as it Happened: Nigeria 4-0 Cameroon

Welcome to enyinnayablog.com's live coverage of the 2018 World Cup qualifier between Nigeria and Cameroon from the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo as gathered from www.mynationnews.com.

A reminder of where we stand in Group B: Nigeria have a full haul of six points after beating both Zambia and Algeria, while Cameroon trail by four points after drawing both of their games 1-1 against the same opponents. So a win for the Super Eagles will see them take full control of the group and put them within touching distance of the Russia 2018 finals.

We're less than half an hour from kick-off, here are the starting XIs ahead of
the match:

Nigeria: Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Shehu Abdullahi, William Troost-Ekong, Leon Balogun, Elderson Echiejile, John Obi Mikel, Wilfred Ndidi, Ogenyi Onazi, Moses Simon, Victor Moses, Odion Ighalo

Cameroon: Fabrice Ondoa, Collins Fai, Adolphe Teikeu, Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui, Serge Leuko, Sebastian Siani, Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, Christian Bassogog, Moumi Ngamaleu, Benjamin Moukandjo, Vincent Aboubakar

What a beautiful victory for the Super Eagles who put up a marvellous display to inch nearer 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia. The Super Eagles will qualify should they silence Cameroon in Yaounde. Thanks for joining our live coverage of the match!

90+4' - Full time - What a magnificent win for Nigeria! The Super Eagles are surely destined to qualify for Russia 2018. Cameroon were completely outplayed and will need to make a massive improvement for the rematch in Yaounde on Monday evening.

90+1' - There will be three minutes of added time.

89' - Great defending from Teikeu as he makes a superb tackle to prevent Iheanacho making it 5-0...

86' - A half-chance for Cameroon as Ngadeu-Ngadjui pokes the ball over the crossbar from the middle of a crowd of bodies.

85' - Substitution - Cameroon's final change sees Bassogog make way for Fabrice Olinga.

82' Well-deserved applause for Victor Moses who departs in the 82nd minute. It was always flashy for him with his mesmerising skills running the Indomitable Lions ragged. He's replaced here by Ahmed Musa.

79' It's going to be a long final 10 minutes for Cameroon. The visitors are being hemmed back in their end, voluntarily dropping deeper and deeper in defence, Nigeria have intensified their all-out pursuit to try and get more goals.

76' Goal Kelechi Iheanacho

75' Nigeria 4-0 Cameroon. What an evening for Super Eagles. Kelechi Iheanacho punishes the Indomitable Lions

71' Cameroon are getting after it now. There's a real urgency about their approach, and Nigeria are beginning to fade a bit as they show the effects of having their captain out . Will the Indomitable Lions ever roar back?

68' - Substitution - Nigeria skipper Mikel makes way for Ndubisi Agu in the Super Eagles' second change.

67' - Moses tries a cheeky chip, but his effort is just over the crossbar.

65' - Iheanacho looks to add his name to the score sheet, but he's pulled up for a free kick after tripping up Teikeu.

61' - Substitution - Nigeria's first change sees the excellent Ighalo (who seems to have picked up some cramp) replaced by Kelechi Iheanacho.

59' - Substitution - Cameroon make another change as Choupo-Moting succumbs to injury and is replaced by Arnaud Djoum.

57' - Compared to the defeat at home to South Africa in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers back in June, this is a massive improvement from Nigeria. Chalk and cheese.

55' Goal Victor Moses

55' Oh my goodness! Can't believe the Super Eagles are three goals up. Great strike from Chelsea's Victor Moses. Moses Simon made the assist while the other Moses put it into the net. Excellent!

52' Fine freekick from Victor Moses but it goes wide. Cameroon have a chance now to build their attack from the rear. They need three goals to earn an unlikely win at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium

49' HEROIC FROM EZENWA! That's an absolutely sensational effort from Ezenwa, who flies through the air at full stretch, getting just enough to save AndrĂ©-Frank Zambo Anguissa effort

46' Here we go again...

HALF-TIME: Nigeria 2-0 Cameroon. A wildly entertaining and hotly contested first half ends with a bang in Uyo as the hosts lead courtesy of goals from Odion Ighalo and Mikel Obi but there's plenty of football left to be played as we await what promises to be a terrific second half in the African classic

45+2' - Half time - We've reached the halfway point of the match and it's Nigeria who are very much in charge! Cameroon started the stronger of the two teams, but once Nigeria settled it was one-way traffic and they are deservedly two goals ahead.

42' Goal John Obi Mikel

42' Goooal!
What a game this is turning to be! Nigeria 2 Cameroon 0. Super Eagles are getting closer to the 2018 Fifa World Cup. Great goal from captain Mikel, Fantastic assist from Victor Moses

39' There hasn't been an abundance of chances in this first half, but it's been a wonderfully contested match up to this point. The compete level isn't lacking for either side, who are matching each other's intensity all over the pitch but Nigeria are a goal up.

36' Fantastic save from Fabrice Ondoa off Moses Simon's close range strike. Corner to Nigeria, taken but Wilfred Ndidi's flying header cleared out for safety

33' Goalkeeper Ezenwa has been fantastic this evening as he has stabilised the Super Eagles backline thanks to his fine saves. Believe me, no one is missing the absence of Carl Ikeme or Daniel Akpeyi

30' Goal! Nigeria 1-0 Cameroon. Odion Ighalo puts Nigeria ahead after a finish. He gets booked by the referee for taking off his jersey while celebration. Bright start for the Super Eagles

29' Goal Ighalo

28' Gernot Rohr’s continue on the ascendency, forcing the issue and getting after the Cameroon defence in waves. The pressure is amplifying by the minute, but the visitors have been able to do just enough to keep them out thus far. Victor Moses head wide!

25' Oh no! Odion Ighalo’s goal for ruled for an offside. And on the other end, Adolphe Teikeu becomes the second player after Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui to be cautioned in this game.

22' Nigeria are starting to grow in stature, but it's proving a bit of a slow process. It's been a very easy go for the Cameroon backline thus far in the first 21 minutes, but the visitors are showing some ability of being able to turn the momentum in their favour.

19' Victor Moses goofed a short pass from captain Obi Mikel. He chooses to fire waywardly at goal and denying the Super Eagles a chance to go one goal up. The Chelsea man could have done better.

16' No love lost between these two rivals who are putting in some really strong challenges so early in the match. It's not always pretty when these two sides meet, but there's always plenty of blood and guts on display.

14' - Bassogog with a powerful run forward but he's soon crowded out. Cameroon are bossing the game so far.

11' - Corner kick to Cameroon: Moukandjo crosses, Ngadeu-Ngadju gets a flick-on, but Ezenwa collects confidently.

9' - The Cameroon skipper plays a ball into the box from the set piece, but it's a free kick to Nigeria for a foul.

8' - Cameroon with a free kick in a useful attacking position. Moukandjo stands over ball...

5' - Both teams just looking to settle into the match. Here's Ngamaleu with a half chance as he stabs a volley goal-ward, but it's no threat to Ezenwa.

2' - Balogun almost leaves a back-header short, with Aboubakar threatening to nick it away from Ezenwa, but the goalkeeper gets there just in time.

1' - Kick-off - We are underway in Uyo! Nigeria wear their home strip of green with white trim, while Cameroon are in a change strip of yellow and red.
