NEMA Holds Party For IDPs In Yola


This latest gist reaching us has it that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Friday organised a Christmas “get-together’’ for returnee Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Yola, Adamawa.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the IDPs were largely Nigerians that recently returned from Cameroon Republic.
Speaking during the party, Mr Sa’ad Bello, the agency’s Coordinator in the state, said that the gesture was to give hundreds of the IDPs a sense of belonging.

While Observing Christmas : Drive with Caution, FRSC Tells Motorists

Xmas latest press release has it that the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Lekki, Lagos, has advised motorists to drive with caution during Christmas.

The FRSC Lekki Unit Commander, Mr Olufemi Olonisaye, gave this advice at a programme tagged; Flag Off Motor Park Rally at Ajah, Lagos, on Saturday.


He particularly warned motorists against the use of bad tyres, especially the ones referred to as “tokunbo’’ otherwise called fairly used tyres.

The motor park rally has “Operation Sanity: Driving safely into 2016’’as its theme.

According to him, the rally was part of the FRSC ember months programme to educate, sensitise motorists as well as create awareness for all road users on safety during these festivities.

Prince William and Kate Middleton Spotted Shopping Ror Christmas

News-Gist as Shoppers were surprised when they spotted Prince William and Kate Middleton snapping up some bargains in a high street chain. The 'Royal couple' appeared to have gone into the shop round the corner from their home in Kensington, London and stuffed their baskets full of festive goodies.

**I haven't been there but I used to have a colleague who says the place is absolutely inhabitable that's why its called Dustbin Estate, they say people practically live on heaps of rubbish. So sad. Man flogs cousin to death over Xmas rice


The Ogun State Police Command said, yesterday, that it had arrested a man, Kayode Olubunmi,37, for allegedly killing his cousin,Haruna Adeoye,20, over a bowl of Christmas rice.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Muyiwa Adejobi disclosed this in a statement sent to newsmen in Abeokuta.

Adejobi explained that the tragic incident occurred on the Christmas day at Ajegunle, Ita-Oluwo, Ogijo in Sagamu local government area of Ogun State at 10:30pm.

According to the Police, the suspect killed, Adeoye, an orphan for eating a bowl of rice given to them by a friend on Christmas day.

“ When the suspect, who went on a visit to his friends’ place, came back drunk, he flogged the deceased to death with a stick for eating the rice he instructed him to keep for their dinner.

“Haruna was an orphan who had been staying with the suspect for years and Olubunmi could not state why he killed him.

Stop celebrating Christmas, it is idolatory – Kumuyi warns

Respected cleric and founder of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor W.F Kumuyi has called on his members to stop celebrating Christmas, saying that it is idolatry.

The former university don stated this yesterday at the just concluded 2013 Deeper Life National December Retreat under the theme, Crossing Over to a New Inheritance and Prevailing over Storms of Life at the Deeper Life Conference Centre, along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The pastor in a message broadcasted live said the birth of Christ should not only be celebrated just once in year but everyday.

Kumuyi who decried how people squander millions just to celebrate ‘a one-day Christmas’ told his congregation to seek first the kingdom of God, noting that all other things would be added unto them.
