AIB releases names of passengers

The information reaching us has it that the Accident Investigation Bureau on Thursday released the official list of passengers and crew members onboard the Bristow Helicopters’ chopper that crashed into a lagoon in Lagos last Wednesday.

Breaking News: Bomb Explodes At Bus Station In Damaturu See Photo.


This is to inform you that bomb has exploded in a crowded bus station in Damaturu this afternoon. Though not much details of the unfortunate incident has been made known, eyewitnesses say it happened few minutes ago and are already reporting it on twitter. Fifty-nine passengers escape death as plane crash-lands in Ilorin

An Overland Airlines plane from Abuja on Saturday with fifty nine passengers and four crew members escaped death by whiskers after it crash-landed and slipped off the runway in Ilorin, Kwara State.

A statement by the General Manager, Public Affairs, of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Fan Ndubuoke, on Saturday, said no life was lost in the incident, which he added, was already being investigated.


The statement read, “An Overland flight 1186, an ATR 72 aircraft with Registration number 5N-BPG from Abuja airport to Ilorin, carrying fifty nine passengers and four crew members,veered off the runway at low speed after a normal landing at the Ilorin Airport.

Helicopter crash kills 9 Thai soldiers

Nine persons have been confirmed dead in an army helicopter crash in Thailand, the military officials said on Tuesday.

The Army spokesman, Col. Winthai Suvaree told newsmen in Bangkok.


He said that the Deputy Commander of the Third army, Maj.-Gen. Songphol Thongjeen, was among those killed when the helicopter went down in Phayao province 700 kilometres north of Bangkok on Monday.

Suvaree however said that investigations were under way.

According to the report, the aircraft was a Bell 212 model.

However, the Thai army grounded its Bell 212 fleet in 2011, after three crashes of different helicopter models within two weeks which had left 17 persons dead. (dpa/NAN)

Dr. Myles Munroe, wife, 7 others die in Tragic Plane Crash

Dr. Myles Munroe, the leader of Bahamas Faith Ministries, was killed Sunday when the plane he was in hit a crane and crashed in the Bahamas.

Munroe’s wife, Ruth, was also among the 9 victims of the crash in Grand Bahama, according to the Bahamas Tribune.

The plane reportedly struck a crane at the Grand Bahama Ship Yard, exploding on impact and crashing into the ground near a junkyard area.

Suicide bomb kills 60 near Pakistani border

At least 60 people were killed and more than 110 were wounded Sunday in a Lahore, Pakistan, suicide blast near the country’s border with India, police said.

A suicide bomber detonated his vest after a daily parade at the Wagah border crossing, police said. It appeared the bomber entered the parade area as people were leaving and set off an explosive vest near a checkpoint, police said.

Spokesmen for two groups linked to the Pakistani Taliban — Jundallah and Jamaat-ul-Ahrar — separately claimed responsibility for the bombing, with the spokesman for the latter, Ehsanullah Ehsan, calling the Jundallah claim “baseless.” Ehsan’s statement promised more attacks.

Ogun APC chairman loses wife in auto crash

Ogun State chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Roqeeb Adeniji, on Tuesday lost his wife, Rachael, in an auto crash.

Rachael who was a deaconess was aged 58.

She was said to have died after the driver of a car she was travelling in to Abeokuta lost control. The car somersaulted around Akinale, in Ewekoro Local Government.

She was returning to Abeokuta after attending Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s assessment tour to Ifo Local Government.

One of the deceased’s children, Bolaji confirmed the death of his mother, stressing philosophically, “God knows best.”

CEO of French oil company TOTAL, Christophe de Margerie dies in plane crash

Chief Executive Officer of French oil company Total, Christophe de Margerie, has died in an air crash in Moscow.

Airport spokeswoman Elena Krylova said: “Tonight, a plane crashed when it collided with a snow-clearing machine. Three crew members and a passenger died.”

“I can confirm that the passenger was Total’s head de Margerie,” she said.

The driver of the snow plough was drunk, according to Russian investigators.de Margerie, 63, had been chief executive of Europe’s third largest oil company since 2007.

11 die in Poland plane crash


Eleven people have been killed when a plane carrying members of a parachute club crashed in southern Poland.

Rescue workers said only one of the 12 people on board survived and had suffered serious injuries.

The Piper Navajo light aircraft had just taken off from an airfield in Rudniki near Czestochowa. The cause of the crash was not immediately clear.

Witnesses said the plane’s engines had made an odd, droning sound before it began to fall from the sky.

“It was flying from the south and the engine was making strange sounds,” said Barbara Minczykiewicz, a resident of the nearby village of Topolow where the plane crashed.

Plane Crashes into Buildings in Kenya Killing all Four on Board

A cargo plane has crashed into commercial buildings in Kenyan capital Nairobi, killing all four people on board.

Authorities believe there are no survivors. "It is not clear what caused the crash but officials here say it was flying so low before it came down and burst into flames. We have no survivor," said Joseph Ngisa, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) chief of investigations.

The Fokker 50 cargo plane was headed for Mogadishu, Somalia. The aircraft flew into two commercial buildings in Utawala, in Embakasi area of the capital, at about 04:00 am local time.

Three die in South African plane crash

Three people were killed after a twin propeller airplane crashed trying to land at South Africa's Lanseria airport on Monday morning, the airport chief executive said.

The plane, a Beechcraft King Air 90, was carrying one passenger and two crew members when it crashed while attempting to land at around 0000 Hrs (0500 GMT), Gavin Sayce, chief of executive of Lanseria International Airport, told Reuters.

He could not say whether the heavy rain that has been pounding the Johannesburg area since the early morning played a role in the crash.

17 students die in Pakistan bus crash


At least 17 Pakistani students on their way home from a quiz competition were killed in a school van crash on Wednesday, a hospital official said.

MUSICIAN, WIFE, FRIEND DIE IN ROAD ACCIDENT

A popular musician in Niger-Delta, Augustine Kemepade has lost his life alongside his wife, Fortune Kemepade and a friend, Okumagba Akieyefa in a fatal road crash.

Their death occurred on Monday night along DSC expressway on their way from Aladja, Udu Council Area of Delta State.

It was gathered that the late musician, 38, and his equally late wife were both passengers in Okumagba’s car when the incident happened while returning from Aladja where they had gone to visit a friend.

Augustine who just released a new album hailed from Ogbinama community, while his wife was a native of Kiagbodo community, and his late friend, Okumagba Akieyefa was from Obotebe community, all in Burutu Council Area of Delta State.

The popular saying that hell has no fury than a woman scorned came to pass on Monday at the Surulere residence of a banker, Bimbo Ajetumobi Daniju and her gospel singer husband Olalekan Idowu Daniju when the woman allegedly took a knife and sliced her husband’s penis during a fight.
Bimbo, staff of a new generation bank in Lagos was said to have accused her husband of not taking care of her and their only child, Opeoluwa. The husband disagreed and while fighting, Bimbo allegedly seized her husband’s penis and sliced it with a knife. Bimbo denied using a knife but her fingernails to teach her husband a lesson on how not to treat a woman. The ugly incident happened on Monday at their Falolu Street, Surulere home.

Plane that broke down on Abuja runway was carrying bulletproof cars

The Saudi Arabian plane that broke down on the runway of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport on the 4th of December leading to the closure of the airport for over 20 hours was carrying 5 set of bulletproof cars weighing 58 tonnes and another set of five bullet proof cars weighing 42 tonnes, according to the Saudi Arabian Embassy.

In a bid to clear the air, the Embassy released a press release stating the content and who owned them. The statement in part reads
