News as 38 Army officers blow hot over ‘bias, forceful’ retirement, petition Osinbajo

It is reported that No fewer than 38 senior officers of the Nigerian Army have rejected the decision of the Army Council to compulsorily retire them from the service.

The officers on Wednesday asked Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, to authorise an impartial investigation into the allegations they brought against the Army and an independent review of the Army Council’s decision.

POLITICS: Presidency dismisses Coup plot reports


Current news report as Mr Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, has urged Nigerians to ignore the media reports on Coup plot, saying it should not be stretched beyond what the military authorities had said.

The Generals, Colonels Kicked Out Of The Nigerian Army



News trending as the Nigerian Army, on Saturday, revealed that it has sent some senior officials on compulsory retirement following findings that the top Army officials were either involved in the mismanagement of the Arms deal fund or complicit in electoral malpractice during the 2015 general election.

Why Army can’t probe ex-generals -Buratai

The latest trending news reveal as Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai has said the army cannot investigate roles played by ex-army chiefs and other senior officers in the ongoing $2.1billion arms deal scandal because, as retired personnel, they fall beyond the purview of the army.
Buratai, who responded to questions from the House of Representatives Committee on Army during his defence of the army’s 2016 budget, stressed that the status of the former service chiefs and senior officers makes it difficult for the army to successfully investigate them.
“The service chiefs and those involved in the procurement are retired, so, we are limited on the extent we can investigate them,” Buratai told the lawmakers.
But, in a swift response, chairman of the committee, Rima Shawulu, said the House has constitutional powers to institute a probe into the arms scandal.

14 Boko Haram Members Killed By Nigerian Army

Latest news reaching us has it that the Boko Haram insurgents yesterday attacked the 120 Task Force Battalion of the Army at Goniri in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe state.

The insurgents appeared to have come from Shettimari in the Borno axis of the town and engaged the soldiers in a fierce fight that lasted for almost four hours.

News As Army Frees Man Wrongly Arrested

News on our news desk has it that Abubakar Sadiq, a young man that was arrested by the soldiers after he was linked to one of the photographs of 100 hundred wanted Boko Haram terrorists, that was published in October by the Nigeria Army, had been freed on Friday after weeks of intensive investigation, officials said. 

Sadiq, who was believed to have a facial resemblance with the suspect number 28 on the published photos, was released after a joint investigation team of the army later discovered that he was not the same person as the one published by the Directorate of Army Public Relations.
