It is reported that the Telecommunication company, MTN, on Friday in Abuja said it would list its shares on the Nigerian Stock Exchange this year.


MTN General Manager, Mr Nikiwe Tsaagane, made this known when he paid a courtesy visit to Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, Minister of Science and Technology.

Tsaagane said the efforts would help to fast-track improvement in the Nigerian economy.

Court Bars MTN From Moving Funds Abroad

News reaching us has it that the Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday barred MTN Nigeria Communications Limited from moving any funds from all banks in Nigeria abroad pending hearing of its suit challenging the N1.4trillion fine imposed on it by the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC).

Justice Mohammed Idris ordered parties to maintain status quo.

MTN Nigeria Acquires Visafone

Latest telecommunication news reaching us review that MTN Nigeria on Thursday said that it has completed the acquisition of Visafone, the only surviving Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) network in Nigeria’s telecommunications industry.

This is current news update reaching us as the South African telecoms giant MTN said Thursday it would launch a court challenge against the $3.9 billion fine that Nigeria has ordered it to pay by December 31 for failing to disconnect unregistered users.

NCC Sends MTN Two Separate Letters With Conflicting Information On Fine Reduction

The current news reaching us reviews that the telecommunications operator, MTN yesterday accused the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC of not being clear with information on its decision to reduce the N1.04 trillion fine earlier imposed on the operator for allegedly not being able to disconnect about 5.1 million improperly registered subscribers in its network in August and September 2015.

The operators said that within two days it has received two separate letters with conflicting information on the regulator’s decision to review the fine downwards.

According to MTN, while the first letter dated December 2, 2015 communicated that the regulator had reduced the fine to N674 billion from the original N1,040,000,000,000 (One Trillion, Forty Billion Naira ), representing a 35 percent reduction, the second letter dated December 3, 2015 conveyed that the regulator only reduced the fine to 780 Billion Naira, representing 25 percent reduction.

MTN, Airtel, others promise Nigerians improved service delivery

Wale Goodluck, MTN’s Corporate Service Executive, has assured Nigerians that the network would soon improve on its service quality.

Mr. Goodluck made the assertion at the 76th Telecoms Consumer Parliament organised by the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, in Lagos on Thursday.

He said at the event tagged “Data Service Delivery: The Way Forward’’ that the poor service quality being experienced by customers was as a result of a number of challenges.

“As service providers, we want to say that NCC has a great role to play and I am glad they are living up to expectations,” he said. “We will definitely begin to see improvement in our services soon.”
