News As DSS Arrests Faleke, Audu’s Son

News reaching us has it that the directorate of State Service has detained Kogi State deputy governor-elect, Mr. James Faleke and Alhaji Mohammed Audu, the son of the late Abubakar Audu.

The Audu/Faleke Campaign Organisation, which confirmed the development, critisised the DSS for inviting and detaining both men.

The Organisation’s Director of Media and Publicity, Mr Duro Meseko told newsmen in Lokoja on Saturday that Faleke was being detained alongside Alhaji Mohammed Audu, the first son of the late Prince Abubakar Audu.

Final Warning From Army To Boko Haram Terrorists


 Breaking news trending now has it that the Nigerian Army, yesterday, issued a swift final warning to Boko Haram terrorists who are yet to surrender, to do so without further delay in order to escape the impending final onslaught.

The Nigerian army High Command gave the warning even as it warned that the 219 Chibok girls still being held by the terrorists must be freed immediately, without any other condition by the terrorists.

It was gathered that the final ultimatum followed the security meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and the Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Monday, during which the President was briefed on the strategies to ensure his directive for an end to insurgency in December was achieved.

National Security Adviser Warns Of Boko Haram Plan Attack In Lagos - Read Details

Trial Of 22 Nigerian Soldiers Commences



This is to inform you that Nigerian military authorities on Monday started the trial of 22 soldiers in Lagos, for alleged negligence and complicity in the invasion of the 21 Artillery Brigade, Bama, by Boko Haram insurgents on September 2, 2014.

A Brigadier General, four colonels, seven Lt. Cols, and 10 other officers of the Nigerian Army are those facing trial.

The trial is seen as one of the biggest in the recent military court martial, having for the first time, 23 very senior officers of the service.

Obasanjo- Jonathan Scared Of Being Jailed By Buhari If He Loses.

Former President has unleashed another attacks on President Goodluck Jonathan, acussing him of playing politics of do-or-die like President of Côte d’Ivoire, Laurent Gbagbo and that Jonathan is afraid of being jailed by Buhari if he loses.

Obasanjo said this on Saturday at his Hilltop presidential residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State, in an interview with newsmen.

The ex-President Obasanjo said he broke his promise not to talk till after the elections because the elections were postponed.

I.G Orders Nationwide Audit Of Police Armouries

The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, has ordered a thorough check and audit of Police armouries nationwide, as part of measures to strengthen accountability of the stock of weaponry of the Force.

The measure is to enable the Force to review the current state of arms and ammunition in stock at various Police armouries.

A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Ojukwu, on Wednesday in Abuja, said the exercise, which has already commenced, would cover all police commands, formations, stations and units across the country.

Nigerian soldier goes berserk, guns down colleague

A Nigerian soldier, Lance Corporal Muazu Haruna, attached to the 423 Battalion, Elele Barracks, in Rivers State has shot a colleague, Staff Sergeant Ishiaku Shuaibu to death in Bayelsa State.

It was learnt that the incident took place at the Bayelsa State Government House in the evening of Monday.

It was learnt that the shooting of his senior colleague was due to issues bordering on allowances.

It was further learnt that the aggrieved soldier, who was drafted a few days to Maiduguri, Borno State, had come to the Government House to collect his allowances but the deceased allegedly prevented him from entering the premises.

EXPOSED: Nigerian Army Arrests Soldiers For Being Boko Haram 'Spies'

Military authorities prosecuting the war against terrorism in the North East states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe have arrested several soldiers, who were discovered to have leaked vital security information on the troops' strategies and tactics to Boko Haram that led to a series of ambush and killing of over 30 Nigerian soldiers in recent times.

Most of the arrested soldiers serve as orderlies or aide-de-camps, ADCs to Commanders of Troops on the field.

It was gathered that the alleged moles among the soldiers leaked the information on the deployment of soldiers from Barracks in April this year to the terrorists which led to an ambush and killing of so many soldiers of the 101 Battalion that consequently led to soldiers' mutiny and the shooting at the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division, Major General Ahmed Mohammed. JTF promises peaceful elections in creeks

The Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation Pulo Shield, has declared its readiness for hitch-free elections in 2015.

The outfit at the weekend allayed security concerns in the creeks of the oil-rich Niger Delta region, saying it would collaborate with other security agencies to ensure peaceful elections.

JTF Commander, Major-General Emmanuel Atewe, gave the assurance in Yenagoa when the new Air force Officer Commanding, the Mobility Command of the Nigerian Air force, Yenagoa, Air-Vice Marshall Umar Omeiza, visited him.

Nigerian army to fight Boko Haram with Civilian JTF recruits



The Presidency is weighing options on how to increase the number of troops in the troubled Northeast.

A top military source, who spoke in confidence, said the depletion of troops nationwide, as a result of security challenges in at least 30 states, made the measure necessary.


He said it had become “urgent to beef up troops” in the Northeast.

The highly-placed source said: “From all indications, the Presidency may soon consider recruiting qualified, competent, courageous members of Civilian JTF into special security forces to be well-trained and equipped in the war on terror.

Sallah: Military bans vehicles on Borno, Yobe roads

Like it did during the last Eid-el-Fitri celebration, the military authorities have placed a restriction on vehicular movement in Borno State during the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir.

The military said this move had become necessary to forestall multiple bomb explosions in the state during the sallah.

In a statement on Friday, it said, “The report at the disposal of the security agencies reveals that Boko Haram terrorists have perfected plans to launch multiple bomb explosions in Maiduguri metropolis and other major towns across Borno State during the Eid-El-Kabir celebrations 2014 using motorcycles, tri-cycles etc.”

The statement added that the insurgents main targets included Sallah praying grounds, markets and other public places.

US Secret Service Director Julia Pierson Resigns Amid Security Lapses

The head of the US Secret Service, tasked with guarding US President Barack Obama, has resigned following several high-profile security lapses.

Julia Pierson offered her resignation to the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security on Wednesday.

A day earlier, she faced angry questions in Congress about a major breach of White House security.

News of another incident involving an armed man allowed in a lift with Mr Obama compounded calls for her to go.

"Today Julia Pierson, the Director of the United States Secret Service, offered her resignation, and I accepted it," Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson wrote in a statement.

Nigerian military feeding the world lies, we are in control of Bama, other towns - Boko Haram spokesperson


The insurgent group, Boko Haram, has said that it is in control of Borno’s second largest town, Bama, and alleged that the military is feeding the world with lies.

Members of the Boko Haram had two weeks ago invaded Bama, killing several people and destroying property, thus forcing residents to flee.

There had been conflicting reports of who was in control of the town between the sect and the Nigerian military.

NE had reported how the military, last week Monday, attacked the insurgents in Bama in an attempt to reclaim the city. The military had tweeted that it was doing “everything necessary” to stop the insurgents from taking control of the city.

Nigerian soldiers recapture Bama, kill 50 Boko Haram militants

Nigerian troops have recaptured Bama in Borno State from the Boko Haram insurgents and blocked the Islamist militants’ advance towards the state capital, Maiduguri.

The soldiers equally killed no fewer than 50 of the insurgents, according to a senior military official, who spoke on Monday.


According to him, government forces are also fighting a southwards push into neighbouring Adamawa State by the terrorist group, which has recently departed from its usual hit-and-run tactics and started to seize towns and territory.

On Monday, the Defence Headquarters said more than 50 Boko Haram fighters were killed with the Nigerian troops recording three casualties.

Nigerian soldiers battle Boko Hram militants to regain captured towns

Nigerian soldiers are turning back fleeing residents of Mubi in Adamawa State as they engage Boko Haram insurgents in an attempt to regain the town.

The soldiers are also said to be engaging in a fierce battle with members of the sect all through Sunday night and Monday morning to regain full control of Michika.

Fighter jets are bombing the hideouts of the insurgents while foot soldiers battle their locations around Michika local government area secretariat.

Executive Director of Stefanos, Mr. Mark Lipdo, quoting military sources in the battle field, said that the military are turning back Nigerians running out of Mubi in reaction to the news of insurgents approaching Mubi town.

IG deploys new command police commissioners in 21 states

The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, has deployed the newly promoted Commissioners of Police to head Police Commands in 21 States.

This followed the recommendation of the CPs to the Police Service Commission and its subsequent approval.

The CPs are Usman Yakubu who would now head Nasarawa State Police Command; Isaac Achong, CP, Akwa-Ibom; Paul Okafor, Kogi; Hyacinth Dagala, Benue; Farouk Umar, Jigawa; Salihu Garba, Kwara and A. Shodipo, Oyo State.

Others are Abubakar Marafa, Osun; Clement Adoda, Borno; Kayode Aderanti, Lagos; Usman Baba, Delta; Dan Bature, Rivers; Karma Hassan, Anambra; Titilayo Busari, Cross River; Valentine Ntomchukwu; Bayelsa; Frederick Lakanu, Ekiti; and Ademola Omole, Taraba.

Ex-militants to storm National Assembly today over welfare

Former militants from the Justice Camp in the Niger Delta have threatened to shut down legislative and all other activities today at the National Assembly complex in Abuja.

The aggrieved ex-militants, who claimed to have made other peaceful entreaties for Federal Government’s attention to their plight, said theyadopted the protest approach because their camp had been sidelined by the Amnesty Office in the Presidency.

They said the officce refused to document and integrate them into the third phase of the amnesty programme.

Addressing reporters at the weekend in Ughelli, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, General David Owhegbe, the State Chairman of the Justice Camp, alleged that his members had been deliberately excluded from benefitting from the programme.
